Basic Obedience

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE REINS AND BE EMPOWERED IN YOUR DOG’S TRAINING!?!?

Basic Obedience

A Basic Obedience Lessons program is geared towards those owners that want a more hands on and personal approach to their training. This program include the teaching of E-collar use, 7 commands, and instruction on manners work. The included commands are; Come, Sit, Break, Off, Place, Heel, and Down. Below is a breakdown of the lessons and which commands are taught at which stage.

The Lessons/Commands:

1st Lesson-1.5 hrs

The first lesson includes an in depth introduction and instruction to the E-Collar. The proper way to use the collar and the importance of timing is covered in the first 30 minutes of the lesson (this allows plenty of time for questions and to ensure we are confident on E-Collar use prior to beginning command work).

Come-Our recall command. We work with you and your dog to get to a level of understanding and comprehension from your dog on the command and what is expected.

Sit-With the recall command having an expectation of an “automatic” sit to complete the action, we work the sit command into the recall as well as on its own.

Break-Our freedom word. We show you how to utilize the break command with ending each command sequence and to provide a fun “break” for you and your dog to ensure that we keep our training light and enjoyable for you and your dog.

Off-We discuss which behaviors would be “off” behaviors and give you the necessary instruction on using this command with appropriate timing and accountability.

-Sometimes we do not see the “off” behaviors during lessons and are unable to truly train these in person each time.

2nd Lesson-1 hr

Place – Utilizing a place cot, we work on the place command as a way to have our dog “place” on a desired object. We use the place cots and their level surface to work on building a dogs duration and ability to remain stable for extended periods. We also use objects with varying heights and surface textures to build your dogs confidence and consistency.

3rd Lesson-1 hr

Heel – This is a mobile command. This command focuses on our dogs position when in a heel walk. We want our dogs to have a tight heel position next to us, especially when working towards an “off leash” heel. The expectation with heel is a tight position, with the same pace as the owner, all while the dog is working off of owner’s pace and body pressure.

4th Lesson-1 hr

Down -Lastly, the down command. This command is an extension of sit but should be treated as a completely separate command. The down command is one that allows a dog to become more stable, less impulsive, and also gives them the ability to self sooth or “calm down.”

Along with all of the commands covered in the Basic Obedience Package, we work with owners on the importance of manners and how to implement the training methods taught, when the owners and dog are home. While in the lessons and going through the Basic Obedience program, things like door manners, food manners, jumping on people, etc..are covered as thoroughly as needed to ensure you leave each lesson more confident and ready to take your dog’s obedience to the next level!

If you are like us and can’t stand being away from your furry companions for an extended period of time or you are looking for a more involved and hands on approach to your dog’s training, the Basic Obedience Lessons Program is the choice for you!

We structure our lessons package in a way that won’t leave you high and dry week to week wondering how to approach your dog’s training at home and will ensure you and your dog are confident in what is being learned each lesson. The Basic Obedience Lessons are meant to empower each owner with the tools necessary to take the reins of their dog’s training and allow them to see the growth and progression in their dog each and every week.

Reactive/Aggressive Dogs

Each and every dog we train is different from the next. We do not have a one size fits all training method and we approach each dog differently based on their individual needs and each owner’s individual training goals. We want to make sure that every dog has a chance at a happy and full life at home, this includes those with behavioral issues/concerns.

Working with dogs that have reactivity and or aggression does require a more expensive cost to the training ($100.00-$250.00 extra per program, CASE BY CASE BASIS) but that is solely due to the caution and care each dog is treated with.

DO NOT THINK THAT YOUR REACTIVE DOG CANNOT BE TRAINED!!! WE ARE HERE TO HELP!!
